Welcome to Namib Dorper Stud

Thank you for visiting our website. Here you will find more information on the Dorper breed, our flock, and our Australian based Stud, DSSA Registered D775 GIPPSLAND.

Namib Dorper Stud is located in the Gippsland province of Victoria, two hundred kilometres east of Melbourne. The hillside property runs down to the Alpine mountain waters of Lake Glenmaggie and is located in a rain shadow region suited to farming sheep.

We believe that the high fertility and low maintenance of Dorpers makes them the most viable self-replacing meat sheep breed in Australia and the World. Their hardiness and adaptability means they can be raised in many different environments and climates found in Australia, similar to that of Southern Africa.

The very best Namibian and South African genetics feature in the pedigrees of our sheep. World Champion Namibian dorper breeder Philip Strauss with fellow countryman Floors Nell as well as an elite group of South African stud breeders consisting of Mickeys Phillips, John Dell, Tien Jordaan, and Ben Grobbelaar are represented. Dual Australian and Namibian Registered Veterinarian Katrin Sievers manages the stud.
